For symmetrical double whip cracking routines (routines where both hands are doing the same patterns) there are several possible variations of timing. Not all variations make sense for all double whip routines.

Same Time

This is the easiest of the variations. For "Same Time" both whips are doing the same thing at the same time. For a slow figure eight the timing would be as follows.

       CM RCM
4/4 𝄆 𝅘𝅥 𝄽 𝅘𝅥 𝄽 𝄇
    𝄆 𝅘𝅥 𝄽 𝅘𝅥 𝄽 𝄇
       CM RCM

Staggered Time

Staggered time is when one of the whips is cracking just slightly behind the other. For a slow figure eight the timing would be as follows.

       CM RCM
6/4 𝄆 𝅘𝅥 𝄽 𝄽 𝅘𝅥 𝄽 𝄽 𝄇
    𝄆 𝄽 𝅘𝅥 𝄽 𝄽 𝅘𝅥 𝄽 𝄇
           CM RCM

Each Way

This is all also referred to as balanced time.

One whip will be doing the first crack, while the other whip is doing the second crack at the same time. For a slow figure eight the timing would be as follows.

       CM RCM
4/4 𝄆 𝅘𝅥 𝄽 𝅘𝅥 𝄽 𝄇
    𝄆 𝅘𝅥 𝄽 𝅘𝅥 𝄽 𝄇
       RCM CM

Each Way Staggered

Each Way Staggered time is when one of the whips is cracking just slightly ahead the other. This might not seem any different than the regular staggered time, but depending on the pattern being performed can feel significantly different. For a slow figure eight the timing would be as follows.

       CM RCM
6/4 𝄆 𝅘𝅥 𝄽 𝄽 𝅘𝅥 𝄽 𝄽 𝄇
    𝄆 𝄽 𝄽 𝅘𝅥 𝄽 𝄽 𝅘𝅥 𝄇
              CM RCM
